We all need a sense of direction to grow.  When we became Christians, we accepted a direction that encompasses all areas of our life:   becoming more like Jesus. On the eve of 2020, God has given us an opportunity to reflect on where we are and where we are headed.

Do we really know Jesus? God did not highly exalt Christ so that we would occasionally or even frequently just talk about what He did.  He did it so we could share in His glory.

This week, you passed Jesus dozens of times: did you see Him? Everywhere that there is a hurting person, there is an opportunity to see Jesus. Come, let us adore Him.

Ask someone about their leadership style, and odds are they will respond with something about being a “servant leader.” Being a servant is about much more than applying a label to ourselves, though. We have to actually practice it, and Jesus shows us how.

I learned something important as I prayed in my car moments before a big job interview: truly wanting God’s will changes everything and leads to true joy no matter what happens.

The hardest decisions usually aren’t between good and bad options: we lose sleep over the choices where there are potential positives and negatives either way.  We appropriately come to God for guidance, but isn’t it a missed opportunity to ask Him to choose A or B when He has the whole alphabet to work with?  Just imagine how things might change if we truly started to care, “What does God want?”

How often do we ask God for something “if it’s Your will” but then become angry or disappointed when it isn’t? Jesus shows us what it looks like to make God’s wants ours and to live abundantly in the process.

Money has a huge impact on our lives as followers of Jesus, yet we avoid talking about it. Jesus’ disciples need to know where our money is going and what it says about our hearts. 

Sick people are in the hospital, and people struggling with sin come to Jesus. Sin is a cancer requiring dramatic surgery, and our Great Physician has a treatment plan for us. 

Isn’t it interesting that when asked a question about divorce, Jesus replied by talking about God’s design for marriage?  Asked the wrong question, He gave the right answer.
